The William Robert Loosley - High Wycombe

Visited 10th May 2009.

Nice inside, a decent size and a very nice, chatty barmaid made this place a decent place to visit. The beer was good as were the burgers. It was fairly quiet at the time of my visit but as I was in a reflective mood this was a good thing and the peace allowed me time to decide whether to go for the standard burger or the Gourmet burger, always a tricky choice.

The Gig House - Wokingham

Visited 1st May 2009.

A young and very lively place. Whilst I was taking some photographs I could hear a conversation between some on lookers and a bouncer speculating as to why I was taking the photos. Nobody wanted to actually ask me why but a very pretty and charming young lady came up and asked me if she could be in one of them with me. Always happy to oblige. The natives are friendly and I stayed for several drinks before heading off happy.

The Catherine Wheel - Henley on Thames

Visited 26th April 2009.

The first Wetherspoon Lodge I've visited although as I didn't stay overnight and didn't see any of the rooms I have nothing to report on that front. A large, interesting, maze like pub. It would make a good base to stay at while visiting the surrounding town and countryside and Henley is a nice place to explore. This is one that I will be going back to.

The Greyhound - Maidenhead

Visited 16th April 2009.

I may have been a little distracted while the first photo was being taken.

Quiet on this visit but often gets very busy later on in the evenings. This was the first Lloyds no. 1 bar where I have had a steak. After being asked how I would like it (rare) it arrived very well done. This is not a criticism of The Greyhound (well maybe a little) but of Wetherspoon in general. I have yet to have a decent steak in any of the ones I have visited. The curry's not bad though!

The Windlesora - Windsor

Visited 11th April 2009.

Situated between Chicago's and Liquids nightclub The Windlesora attracts a younger, lively crowd stopping off for a drink before dancing the night away. We arrived early and ate before we also moved onto Liquids. There were a few hen parties in attendance and no one was safe (woohoo!) as was found out by a young man at the table next to us who was persuaded out of his boxers. He'd just managed to get them back on as the bouncers arrived and voiced their general opposition to the game!

The staff were efficient, the food was good and I have returned to The Windlesora several times since.

The George - Staines

Visited 5th April 2009.

What can I say? It's a huge place with a large upstairs bar as well. I liked it. Food was good, bar staff were good and an enjoyable atmosphere. I was only popping in for a quick drink and ended up staying for about seven hours. A big tick for this one.

The King And Castle - Windsor

Visited 27th March 2009.

A Lloyds No. 1 bar. The price of food and drink reflect the fact that The King And Castle is situated directly opposite Windsor Castle and will catch a large number of the tourists visiting one of the most popular attractions in the area.

A nice place and popular. This means long waits at the bar. OK, now for a bit of a moan. I've always believed that a good barman is aware of who is waiting at the bar and then serves them in the order of who has been waiting the longest. The barman working our end of the bar followed a different pattern based not on who had been waiting the longest but on who was showing the most cleavage. This meant very, very, very long waits for about half of the people wanting a drink!

Probably not going to return to this one. Never mind, plenty more waiting...

The Old Manor - Bracknell

Visited 23rd March 2009.

Let's get this thing started. Pub one. No special reason for starting with The Old Manor, I just happened to be driving past it when the idea of visiting all of the J D Wetherspoon pubs occurred. I had on a previous occasion had quite a decent breakfast at The Old Manor and today was in the mood for a spot of lunch, hence the burger.

The Old Manor is one of the few Wetherspoon pubs that I have visited that has a car park. Not sure what you do if you want to stay there for more than three hours though! Also, read the sign and remember to claim your ticket fee back. I didn't and didn't...
