The Denmead Queen - Waterlooville

Visited 11th July 2015.

This is turning into a very busy year and I don't seem to have a lot of time for pub visiting so I thought I would make a special effort and get out on the bike in the sunshine. The plan was to visit Portsmouth and spend the day there having a look round and generally checking out the "sights". My bike has a sat nav built on to it although the maps have not been updated for some time but Portsmouth has been where it is for a long time as have most of the roads to so just this once I decided to put Mrs Google Nav in my pocket and go "old school". As it turned out this was a big mistake and for some reason I ended up seeing a huge number of single track roads and more than my fair share of tractors so it was with some relief when I finally reached my first destination of the day in Waterlooville.
I parked up, went in and ordered a half of Doombar and a Philly cheesesteak. By now I had already made the decision that this would be the only pub visited today as I had wasted so much time in the morning running errands and in the afternoon following the rogue sat nav that I after having a walk round Waterlooville I would run out of day! Anyway, back to the pub, I had no problems getting served or getting a table even though the pub was moderately busy. My food arrived quickly and I was bitterly disappointed. It was only a few weeks ago that I was in Philadelphia and had a proper Philly cheesesteak and this was nothing like a proper Philly cheesesteak, more like a steak roll. After a walk around the town it was back on the bike and home again, I'll just have to save Portsmouth for another day!
