The Man in the Moon - Stanmore

Visited 23rd August 2013.

Our last pub of the day had parking right outside and due to the time we arrived it was free, a bargain! Again it was a narrow, dark pub with lots of booths. We picked one and went and sat down. And then I got up again and went to the bar where I ordered two small Pepsis and a couple of bags of Hoops, well it was supper time.
On balance I think this one was my favourite of the day but it was a close thing, they were all very similar and there was no outstanding feature that put one ahead of the others, but on the other hand there was nothing wrong with any of them either. Not a bad day and (despite the carpets) even Miss S. went home happy.

By the time we reached our fourth pub of the day Miss S. and I had decided we needed a bit of a change, so I ordered a Pepsi and she ordered an apple and raspberry J2O. Not to much to say about this one, it was quite similar to the previous pubs. It was dark, with the usual paneling and booths, although it did have a dark red carpet which received the thumbs up from Miss S. One thing that was unusual was that it had a dart board, we don't see those very often!

Our third pub of the day was just over a mile away so it did not take very long to get to but parking turned out to be a bit off an issue. The was parking right outside the pub but he gaps were a bit small so we had to make a couple of circuits until someone moved and gave us a bit of space. We struggled into a tight spot and then as always happens, just as we finished parking three large cars all left at the same time. This time I opted for an apple and mango J2O and Miss S. kept it cool with just a bottle of water. The previous two pubs were pretty standard London pubs and this one turned out to be no exception. The interior was mainly wood paneling and green carpet, which was not to the taste of Miss S. either. A pleasant enough pub for me but obviously not trendy enough for my daughters taste.

We hadn't eaten and by the time we arrived at the second 'spoons on the list it was mid-afternoon so we parked up quick, took some very rushed photos and went in and ordered. A gourmet hotdog with an orange and passion fruit J2O for me and a chicken burger and small Pepsi for Miss S. It was fairly busy inside but we were able to get a booth where it was a bit quieter. Our food arrived quickly, which was just as well as our stomach growls were threatening to drown out the room. The general colour scheme was sort of maroon and cream but Miss S. pronounced that she didn't like the carpet, she hadn't liked the carpet in the previous pub either. How little I knew about my own daughter's carpet tastes...

I have deceided to take a well earned break and have the day off. My daughter also has the day off work so has been volunteered to keep me company while I go 'spoon hunting. We are off to North London, an area she is vaguely familiar with after our trip to Borehamwood earlier in the year. Once again lady Google was spot on and we found the first pub on my list with no problems. The natives were friendly and as soon as we started taking the photos we were being quizzed over why and could they also have their photos taken. The couple sitting at the table in the second shot were celebrating the ladies fiftyeighth birthday and certainly seemed to know how to party! We entered into a narrow, blue pub with lots of white pillars, where we were easily able to get a table. I ordered an Apple and Raspberry J2O with Miss S. having a small Pepsi, boy were we living it up. We didn't stay long as we had left home late and I had five pubs on my list for today. Busy, busy busy.
